OBJECTIVE EVANGELICALISM WITH A DOSE OF ICONOCLASM
(Hey - the experts aren't always right)
I thoroughly enjoyed your article. I am newly single and while I did choose the current church I am at specifically b/c of the singles ministry, but only b/c of our similarities; not to find suitors. In that same church however, I have met a dear Christian male friend that attends this church as well. We are sincerely desiring GOD & allowing Him to create, control & prosper the friendship. Unfortunately, other believers find it very tempting to tease us or 'lump' us together and seem to inadvertantly circumvent what GOD is doing in and teaching us. What a detriment to the cause of Christ to think that male-female friendships have to be any more than the edifying, uplifting, and honorable friendships you discussed. Again, I appreciate this article & am here reading your blog b/c I enjoyed it so much.Hope your day is wonderful & sorry about your car! :(
I enjoyed your article. I find it very accurate. Unfortunately as a 42 year old woman who has never married I find involvement in church very hard. Especially when the majority of programs center around married couples and families. I love my married friends and they are a huge blessing to me but their is a huge part of their life I cannot relate too. Therefore I prefer the company of singles.
